Recently, I facilitated a team day for the EMEA supply chain team for LEGO. Even if I say so myself, it was a really good day with lots of fun! And yes, there was a huge amount of LEGO built around the offices :) It was also International, with two attendees flying in from Czech Republic and one joining us virtually from LEGO HQ Billund, Denmark
The aim of these days is to improve team effectiveness and raise individual and team performance. This is done by creating a greater understanding of how each individual in a team is motivated (people , performance, process or HUB) and what their individual and team strengths are. Through a series of exercises all of these elements are brought to life experientially and visually - with some fun to keep energy levels high!
We focused on 'Corestrengths' Relationship Intelligence to understand both individual and team motives and what happens when the pressure builds and 'conflict' is encountered. With physical exercises and moving around the room, the team members started to really understand their individual differences.
Moving to focusing on individual strengths, understanding individual strength difference and what this means to team working relationships. Building on this with exercises to understand triggers and how to avoid them, what needs to happen to recover and get back to working productively and effectively.
The final part of the day, involved looking at their combined team strengths and overdone strengths with some clear individual and team commitments built into 'next step actions' to ensure that their team performance can now move to higher levels of effectiveness and business success.
You may have noticed that we were also joined by 'Peter Parker' - It's far to say his conflict sequence as "Spiderman' is a little unique but he was a welcome addition to our team :)
